TWISTED FISHERMAN is Greg diPiazza (Guitar, lead vocals, Keyboards) who has written and produced his second CD on the island, "Tales from the Deep".

With members hailing from acts such as Stevie Wonder, Sam & Dave, Latoya Jackson, C & K, and Willie Bobo, the playing is strong and seasoned. Their musical experience shines through, and I'll bet the relieved engineer feels the same way; studiowise players can make all the difference in production. The mixes are clean and spacious, with good clear punch in the bottom end. The original material is funky, with just enough jazz influence to keep it interesting, and subtle soloing that's more taste than flash. Great to see and hear another solid production from talented Maui musicians. Personal favorites: the funky clav and sax lines, as well as the tasteful piano chops and nice tom fills!

Greg diPiazza, who used to play with Volcano Jones, now heads a new group called TWISTED FISHERMAN. The band also features Paul Bunuan on sax, George Tavoularis on keyboards, veteran Maui bass player Billy Wilkes, and drummer Gerry Davis.

TWISTED FISHERMAN have just released their debut CD Tales From the Deep. Bravely attempting innovation rather than simply retread old territory, this versatile band creates some fascinating rock forged with a jazz sensibility. Imagine the detatched tone of Roxy Music, the poetic musings of Jim Morrison, and some tight funk.
